    47th Engineers day celebrated in Ropar Campus

    In a two day celebrations for 47th Engineers' Day, commemorating the birth anniversary of Sir M. Visvesvaraya, the students and faculty of Rayat Institute of Engineering and Information Technology (RIEIT) pledged to pursue the ideals of the visionary engineer. 316 students appeared in the Engineering Aptitude test of which Mr Brij Mohan Bhasin, Mr Ankit Talwar, and Mr Gaurav Rawat bagged the First Second and Third prize respectively. Earlier 10 students were bracketed in 3 steps for which a second Quiz was organised, to chose these winners. The prizes were distributed by Shri Anil K. Sondhi, Additional CEO, Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP), and former Chief Conservator of Soils, Govt. of Punjab, was the chief guest of the day.

    Inaugurating the celebrations, of the 47th Engineers' Day chief guest Mr. Sondhi, the Chairman of Rayat Bahra Group S. Gurvinder Singh Bahra, garlanded the bust of Bharat Ratna, Sir M. Visvesvaraya. Dr SC Bedi, Campus Directot RBGI Ropar Campus, explained the laurels of the eminent engineer citing how he was awarded the Knight Commander of the Order of the Indian Empire (K.C.I.E) in 1915.

    Participating in the theme of the 47th Engineers' Day i.e. "Making Indian Engineering World Class", the Chairman Rayat Bahra Group counted on the challenges to target the contribution of 4000 engineers to the pool of engineers for the society. He exhorted these engineers to stand up to the national requirements, continuing the momentum of development for excellence. Getting placed in the topmost companies to serve the nation, was a small beginning, but the need was to meet the manufacturing ambitions set for the future Indian Engineering. He was supported by the chief guest who counted on the conservation of resources viz. Water, agriculture, and sustainability, the need for grounding preparations for Making India infrastructure World Class. He briefed about the various techniques and programmes launched such as laser levelling, chiselling and IWMP.The various works of excellence around the country and in the world were presented by Dr. P Thareja, Director_Principal of RIEIT. He spelled a 4 P programme including Policies, Plans, Processes Procedures, towards the theme with explicit examples.

    The accent of sustainability, through stable, anticorrosive and healthy infrastructure was re-played by Mr. Er. Deepak Vaidya, Business Head, Outokumpu – Stainless leaders (Finland), in his talk on making Indian Infrastructure world class. He targeted on using stainless steel for making infrastructure that could last for more than 1000 years. The Campus Director, Dr Rohit Verma delivered vote of thanks to the guests.
